Thursday Thoughts

This is a TRUE Proverb!  If you are under The Blood, you will know that these two verses can be be put into practice and realized. Nothing at all to do with sending money to a TV evangelist!  When you see God’s providence and provision in everything, even chastening, you will realize enormous blessings, and not all of them tangible.

Sage’s Perfect Potato Soup!

This soup is hearty and delicious. It is comprised of many years of soup making in my kitchen, for my family. Everyone loves it. The condensed milk provides a nice base without curdling.  Pantry and crock pot friendly.

6 – 10 yellow potatoes, cut up

1 small handfull dried, chopped onions

1 chopped celery stalk, with leaves

1 peeled and sliced carrot

1 heaping tablespoon dried parsley

4 – 6 cups boiling water

2 – 3 chicken bullion cubes, or equivalent in broth

1.5 teaspoons sea salt

1/2 – 3/4 teaspoons ground black pepper

2 – 3 tablespoons butter

1, 13 oz. Can evaporated milk

1 pound bacon, crisp and crumbled

1 – 2 cups cheese, use any cheese that melts well, cheddar not mozzerella. I always use a combination of what I have.

__________________________________________

Begin by scrubbing potatoes.  Yellow potatoes have such thin skin, I do not peel, but I do dig out any imperfections with a paring knife. Next cut potatoes into substantial cubes. If you dice too small, they will disintigrate.

Next, add all potatoes to crock pot or Dutch oven. The potatoes should fill about 1/3 of your pot.

Next add onions, celery, carrot, parsley, boiling water, bullion, salt, pepper and butter.

USE BOILING WATER!

If using a Dutch oven, heat to boiling, then reduce and simmer for half an hour to 45 minutes, until potatoes are tender.  Then add can of milk, bacon, and cheese. Heat through till cheese is melted.

If using a crock pot, cover and turn crock to low for 10 – 12 hours, or high for 3 – 4 hours. Stir in cheese, milk, and bacon DURING THE LAST HOUR.

Happy homemaking!

End-of-Days Scenarios: Part 6

End-of-Days Scenarios: Part 6 Author’s note: We continue with the series first posted in 2007. Believers are translated, changed in an atomos of time–in a fraction of an element of time that cannot be divided. They now look into the holy, omniscient eyes of their Lord that are fathomless in the depths of God’s love. […]

End-of-Days Scenarios: Part 6

Saturday Scripture

Not by Mary, not by religion, not by the Pope, not by works, not by anything or any other way. Jesus is the only way to eternity in glory.

Every single person born on this earth, has an eternal soul that will live forever. It is our choice where we will spend eternity.

Hints for Homemakers – How I keep my fridge spotless!

I use my kitchen calendar to keep track!  Our trash is picked up Thursday mornings. So every Wednesday evening I clean part of the fridge. As this is the second week of February, I take everything off the second shelf in the fridge, and clean it and the fridge walls in that area.

You see my second fridge shelf just had a bath in the kitchen sink. It will dry for just a few minutes, finish drying with a clean bar-mop, then everything goes back in.  This method keeps my fridge sparkling, with no mystery substances taking root in the nether regions.

Next week is the third week of February, so on the Wednesday evening before Thursday morning trash pickup, I will clean the third shelf. Anything that needs to be trashed, recycled or composted from that third shelf will be handled then.

The condiment holders on the door go on the top dishwasher rack. The drawers on the bottom are done alternately, and only during months that have a fifth week.  So no drawer gets done in the month of February. Our fridge is sparkling clean at all times, with very little effort!

Happy homemaking!

Saturday Scripture

Matthew 8:20-22 KJV [20] And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. [21] And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. [22] But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Friday Scripture Study

This epistle causes a lot of friction among the brethren. All I can say is divide, divide, divide. James is addressed to the believing tribes of Israel, scattered abroad. We may still glean in this field.

Laying aside filthiness, and putting on meekness, is NOT A WORK!  Not a work in the sense of earning salvation. It is the sanctification that should happen in every believer. We become more like Him, and less like ourselves. That is not a work, it is surrender….  more later.

Monday Musings

I often wonder how people can be oblivious to the work of the Creator. It is so obvious,  the first chapter of Romans rubs our noses in it!  Daily, some discovery is made in the sciences, that verify the Word of God. Yet they will not believe.

This is due to the fact that God has given them over. If we think about that, it helps us be at peace with the hard hearted. And at the same time, we must accept when He uses a sledge hammer on those hard hearts!

Saturday Scripture

Look at this passage carefully!  All our Joel’s Army & Kingdom Now brethren should take note!  This world is not our home, we are STRANGERS AND PILGRIMS, and nothing can change prophecy. Though this passage states that our merciful LORD does not act without compassion, it does say that we are…

prisoners of the earth…

Deep things of God, beloveds. Deep love, deep compassion, and very deep wisdom.

Thursday Thoughts

Many churchgoers smugly place their tithes and offerings in the basket every week. This kind of self-complacency is a deeply embedded sin residing in the hearts of all mankind. It started in the Garden.

When we give of our treasure, our real treasure, our substance, that is true giving. It can be, but is not always, money. We all are given various talents, which we usually keep to ourselves.  Colossians 3:14 tells us to put on charity, the bond of perfection. Selfless giving of our treasure, our substance, ourselves.
